5/24/12- It was a great night of ASCS National Tour/Warrior Region racing for Kyle last night at Valley Speedway in the Jerry and Jeff Smith Racing #86. Kyle started 6th in his heat and had a great start and was in 3rd by the end of the first lap. The rest of the heat race he battled hard with Jonathan Cornell for 2nd trying to pick up one more spot but ran out of time forcing him to settle for 3rd. With enough passing points, Kyle was in the redraw and drew the pole position for the 30 lap A-Main event. Kyle got out front and got the early lead and was looking strong but it just wasn’t enough as Tony Bruce Jr. and Brian Brown got around him after the first 3 laps. A couple of close calls with lap cars caused him to lose a few positions during the race but Kyle managed to fight back for a well deserved 3rd place finish, marking a career best finish with the National Tour and putting him only one point out of the Warrior Region points lead. Kyle would like to thank Jerry and Jeff Smith for letting him race their car, his parents for all their support, his fans, and all of his wonderful sponsors who make this all possible: Jeff Smith Racing Engines, Christian County Collision Repair, Tiger Towing, Schure Built Suspensions, Albright Heating and Air, ColorVision, and PPG.

5/26/12 – LA Raceway, La Monte, MO (ASCS WARRIOR REGION)

5/9/2012 - There were 29 cars that competed last Friday night in the Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region match up at Sapulpa, Oklahoma’s Creek County Speedway.  Kyle started 3rd in his heat race and finished 2nd, which gave him an A Feature starting position of 8th.  He made a few early passes on the small ¼ mile and finished in a hard fought 7th place with a bent front axle that occured in a late race collision with Jonathan Beason.

Saturday evening Kyle raced the Smith Racing #86 in the second ASCS Warrior Region competition at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Kyle started 4th in his heat race and finished 3rd.  With minimal passing points that placed him on the pole for the second B Feature.  He wheeled the #86 to an easy first place finish which transferred him to a 16th starting position in the 25 lap A-Main.  He put on a good show for the fans in the A, steadily moving forward through the field and picking up an impressive 5th place finish to mark his 2nd top 5 in 2 Warrior Region races.  Kyle is currently 3rd in Warrior points, only 10 points out of the lead!

This Friday and Saturday night Kyle is looking forward to competing with the ASCS National Tour in the Kyle Bellm Racing #14k at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas.

5/1/12- There were 34 cars that competed last Friday night at the ASCS National Tour race at the Salina Highbanks Speedway. Kyle started 2nd in his heat race outside of Danny “The Dude” Lasoski and finished 2nd. In the feature Kyle started 12th and finished 12th in a very stacked field of cars managing to hold on to a very free race car despite a tangle with Sean McClelland early in the race when his motor blew.

This Friday Kyle will head to Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, OK to compete with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region and look to pick up his first Sooner Region win. On Saturday, with hopes to finish what he started last year when he lead nearly all 25 laps of the A-Feature before running out of fuel,  Kyle will strap back in the the Smith Racing #86 for an ASCS Warrior Region race at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.

4/25/12- Kyle raced at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR this past Saturday. The night appeared to start out well with Kyle easily winning his heat race but even with the victory, Kyle said the car did not feel comfortable. Some changes were made for the feature and Kyle went out ready to charge to the front from his 5th place starting position. As the green flag flew Kyle knew something was wrong and was struggling with forward and side bite. Despite that Kyle still managed a hard fought 9th place finish against a tough field.

On Sunday we tore the car down to check everything out and sent the torsion bars and shocks to Schure Built Suspension to get checked over. We found an issue with the front axel and also found we had 2 bad torsion bars and a blown LF shock. All these issues will be corrected this week in time to head to Oklahoma this Friday to race the Salina High Banks with the ASCS National tour. We’re hoping for some better luck!

4/18/12 – Kyle was eager to jump back in the seat of the Smith Racing #86 to kick off the season opener of the ASCS Warrior Region Series. The Smith Racing team worked hard preparing for the 2012 race season and it appears the team and Kyle picked up right where they left off in 2011. Kyle came out of the gate strong starting 3rd in his heat and finishing 2nd to Brian Brown placing him 4th in points before the feature. In the redraw he pulled out a 4th place starting position for the 30 lap A-main. The feature went green most of the race and Kyle was having a hard battle with Brian Brown when they reached the front of the field in lap traffic. Kyle had the advantage over Brown and was challenging for 2nd when a late race caution came out causing the field to bunch back up for the restart. After the caution, Kyle lost a little momentum and got passed but still finished 4th. Mother Nature won Saturday night cancelling the races at LA Raceway due to the pit area being too muddy.

Kyle will head to Little Rock, AR this coming weekend to race to 14k.

April 2, 2012- Kyle had two solid top 10 finishes this past weekend. On Friday, Kyle traveled to Batesville, AR and Batesville Motor Speedway to race with USCS. It was Kyle’s first appearance at Batesville and it took him a few laps to get used to the track. In the heat race Kyle finished 7th giving him a 15th starting spot in the main show. From the time the green flag dropped Kyle was moving forward. He charged up to a 5th running position and was closing in on 4th when a car spun and Kyle couldn’t miss him. He restarted at the tail of the field and was only able to battle back for a 7th place finish.

The next night at a very heavy I-30 Speedway Kyle started 9th in his heat race. He was only able to make 2 quick passes settling for a 7th place finish which gave him few passing points and resulted in an 11th starting position for the A-main. Kyle got a great start and was on a mission to get to the front. The race went green almost all 25 laps and Kyle was running 7th when a caution came out on lap 23 allowing him to catch back up to the lead pack for the restart and finish 6th in the feature.

Next weekend Kyle will race Jon Sawyer Racing’s #22 ECOtec at Will Rogers Raceway in Claremore, OK.

March 26, 2012 – Due to 5+ inches of rain in the Dallas, TX area early last week and the cancellation of the first night of the Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals, we made a last minute decision to stay closer to home and race at I-30 Speedway again this past weekend. Once again, Kyle started off the night by winning the 2nd heat which put him in the 6th starting postion for the A-Main. Kyle was fast and racing for 3rd early in the race when a car got into the wall and came down into him causing him to head to the work area and resulting in a DNF.

This weekend, tentative to weather conditions, Kyle will head to Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR on Friday to race with the USCS Sprint Cars and Saturday he’ll head back to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR.

Upcoming Events –

April 7th Kyle will be jumping into Jon Sawyer Racing’s ECOtec midget to race at Will Rogers Raceway in Claremore, OK.

April 13th and 14th Kyle will be strapping back into the Smith Racing #86 where the ASCS Warrior Region kicks off at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO and LA Raceway in La Monte, MO.

March 21, 2012 - 2012 Race Season is officially underway!  Kyle raced Saturday night at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR against a stout field of 30+ cars. The night started well with Kyle winning the 3rd heat, setting him up for a third row starting position in the A Main. Despite the fact that Kyle and David misread the track and had the car set up a too tight, Kyle was running well and poised for a top five finish until he got a good drive off of turn 4 and pulled a massive series of wheelies down the front stretch that caused him to lose a couple of positions ultimately finishing seventh in the race.
Next up, back to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR this Saturday night!
