Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (June 28, 2019) – An ASCS Regional weekend that was reduced from two races to one resulted in another top-five finish for Kyle Bellm and the Greenworks Nursery/Landscapes Awarded No. 14k Sprint Car team.
After Friday’s card at Missouri’s Poplar Bluff Speedway fell victim to rain, Bellm made a long awaited return to Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway on Saturday and promptly won his heat race before posting a fifth-place finish in the night’s main event.
It was his third top-five run in his last four starts.
“It was heavy in the heat race, then it started going away within the first few laps of the feature and I wasn’t really prepared for that,” Bellm commented.
Bellm still held down the third position much of the way before settling for fifth.
“We were in lapped traffic and I dipped the right rear off the track and lost two position, it was still a good night,” Bellm comments.
After taking this weekend off, Bellm looks to increase his schedule over the final half of the year.
“I think we’ve only run our car about ten times this year and 14 races overall,” Bellm says. “We have some things coming up that will have us racing on a more regular basis and I think that’ll help me get into a rhythm and start getting more wins.”
Bellm’s next scheduled action is July 6-7 at Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway and Double X Raceway.
